A contemporary table runner created with students in Shanghai discussing the role of round focal shapes in floral design and experimenting with table styling for events.

I was lucky enough to be given the opportunity to run a Fundamentals of Floristry Course at a flower school in China for 7 days in summer 2019. I designed the class content to cover floristry basics through to more complex design. Students left the course with all the info they needed to start their own floral business.

The focus of all of my classes is innovation and how we can break classic design principals to come up with something creative and new.

I love discussing the theory of design, colours and materials, really getting into the details of how we can approach a client brief for a successful design outcome. We talk a lot about aesthetic taste and how we might use a really standard flower and reinvent it making the viewer see it in a totally new way.

Teaching is a dream, so exhausting but so rewarding!
